Life as a Seminarian:

Seminarians at St. Athanasius live at St. Mary & St. Moses Abbey, and are immersed in the mysteries and discipline of the Orthodox life. In addition to their required courses and service internship, students will participate in daily church services with the monks of St. Mary & St. Moses Abbey. Prayer, meditation, service, and participation in the liturgy are considered important elements of each student’s seminary experience.

As this is a Coptic Orthodox seminary preparing young men for a life of service in the Church, seminarians are also expected to behave in a manner consistent with that role. We value humility, fasting, prayer, discipline, scholarship, and a love of liturgical life. St. Athanasius strives to maintain an atmosphere that fosters these qualities. Our objective is to graduate experts in Coptic Orthodoxy who carry their knowledge humbly and without pride.
